Coming Soon: Woodfords Corner Farmers Market

We see a need for and interest in cultivating the neighborhood's food system, and one of our endeavors is to develop and manage a small independent farmers market. The market will be held Thursday afternoons from 3:00pm - 7:00pm (2 - 6 pm after Labor Day) from the first week in June through the first week in October.

The Center for Grieving Children’s Annual LOVE Gala Fundraiser

Brick South @ Thompson's Point — Friday, February 3rd 6 - 9 pm

The Center for Grieving Children, a non-profit organization that provides a safe space and loving peer support services to grieving children, teens and families throughout Maine for as long as needed at no cost, will be hosting its annual fundraising LOVE Gala on Friday, February 3rd at Brick South in Portland, Maine from 6pm-9pm. The gala will begin with a cocktail hour featuring delicious hors d’oeuvres from Blue Elephant Events & Catering, followed by a brief program with a live auction of local and destination packages.

Portland Greendrinks x Friends of Woodfords Corner!

Woodfords Club— Tuesday, February 14th 5:30 - 8 pm

Love your neighborhood! Spend Valentine's Day with FWC at our Portland Greendrinks event, drink partner: Orono Brewing Company, Apres, Peak Brewing, Maine Craft Distilling — and delicious food by Maiz!

FWC Craft Night: Tiny Mouse Sewing Party

651 Forest Ave, 2nd Floor — Thursday, February 23, 6:30 - 8 pm

Join FWC & Kathleen McKersie for an evening of craftivism! Kathleen will be doing a demo for her amazing tiny felt mice! Materials will be provided, though please BYO needle & thread. Please consider donating a suggested $15 to cover the cost of materials and to support FWC!

Common Floor Contra Dance at Temple Beth El

400 Deering Ave — Sunday, February 26, 7 - 10 pm

You're invited to another Common Floor Contra Dance in Portland, Maine. We’re thrilled to welcome Chimney Swift from Boston! Farthest Field farmer Alyssa Adkins will be calling.

Contra dancing is a traditional folk dance with English, Scottish and French origins. There’s always a live band. These events are extremely accessible for newcomers and a great place to find community. Read more >>>

BINGO at the VFW

687 Forest Avenue — Mondays at 4 pm

VFW 6859 located at 687 Forest Ave, Portland, will begin BINGO every Monday. Doors open at 4 pm, and players must be 16 or over. There will be concessions and pull tabs sold as well.

Do you know your responsibilities when it comes to sidewalk snow and ice removal in the City of Portland? Help keep Woodfords Corner walkable–a safe place for your neighbors to get around–all winter long!

Did you know?

  • The City has a supply of free sand and pet-safe salt mix located at the Little League parking lot in Payson Park (for residential use only).
  • You can help the Portland Fire Department by keeping areas around fire hydrants clear of snow and ice.
