Portland Old Port Publishes Visitor's Guide for Woodfords Corner

Woodfords Corner is a special neighborhood - once described as “one part Brooklynn to two parts Maine” by Conde Nast Traveler. There’s so much to do in our little pocket of Portland, and Portland Old Port has highlighted some of these fantastic outings in their visitor’s guide, “Exploring Woodfords Corner: What to Eat, See, and Do in the area.”

“After a bustling beginning in the 1800s, suburban development in the post-WWII era left Woodfords Corner by the wayside,” the guide reads, “but recent revitalization efforts and public improvement projects have brought new business and activity to the area.” Included in the guide are a handful of newer businesses, like Back Cove Books, and some that have a longer legacy in the Corner, including Big Sky Bakery and the Great Lost Bear.

STAGES Youth Theater is also featured, a great spot to catch all-student productions of popular shows. Coming up this summer and fall are “Argo-Nuts: Jason and the Quest for the Golden Fleece” and “Dracula the Vampire Play.”

Another activity included in this guide is FWC’s self-guided walking tour, which highlights the area’s historic spots, like Woodfords Congregational Church and the Odd Fellows Block.
