Welcome FWC's New Market Manager, Jamie!


FWC is excited to bring on a second part-time staff member to our team - our new Market Manager will coordinate and manage the operations of the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market! We are grateful to all of our 2023 donors who’s generous contributions made it possible to hire Jamie. 

Getting Excited for Produce: CSAs Available for Pick Up at Woodfords Corner Farmers Market!


Some of our wonderful farmers are offering CSAs this season! Get great produce from Fair Share Farm or New Spoke, two beautiful Maine farms.

Fair Share Farm CSAs will be available for pick up at the market during the summer, and they offer local delivery in the Riverton and Deering neighborhoods from June to October. Their CSA is sliding scale, with low-income, regular, and solidarity options. Check them out and sign up here or email fairsharefarmmaine@gmail.com.

New Spoke CSAs will be available for pickup at the market too, and at locations in Yarmouth, Scarborough, and at their farm in West Paris. New Spoke is MOFGA organic certified organic and their CSA is free choice, market style! Learn more and sign up here!
 

Sign Up for FWC's Housing in the Corner Workshops

March 5th, 12th, 19th, 6:30 - 8 pm
FWC invites you to learn about zoning, housing in Portland and at the state level, and imagine how our neighborhood could accommodate more housing. Topics will include a design charette and ReCode Portland from the city and citizen's perspective! Come to one or all.

Seeking Gardens for 2024 Garden Tour


Days are getting longer and FWC has gardens on the mind! As we are starting to plan our 4th annual Garden Tour, we are looking for local gardeners interested in showing off their yards. For more information, check out the Garden Tour page. 
 

Business Survey & Inventory


This past winter, FWC conducted a deep dive into our commercial district as a part of our efforts to support the economic vitality of our community. This assessment of neighborhood conditions will guide us in helping businesses and in planning and advocating for Woodfords Corner.
 

Home Energy Expo

Odd Fellows Hall, 651 Forest Ave
March 16th, 9 am - 1 pm
Hosted by the City's Sustainability Office, this expo will be day filled with interactive workshops and valuable information about energy efficiency! There will be a catered breakfast and lunch available for attendees.

Portraits of Deering Documentary Showing

Odd Fellows Hall, 651 Forest Ave
March 28th, 6:30 - 8 pm
Join Friends of Woodfords Corner for a screening of the documentary 'Portraits of Deering: A Journey from Settlement to Suburbs,' a film by Larson Kenney. Learn about the history of our neighborhood and the surrounding areas! There will also be tours of historic Odd Fellows Hall!

Save the Date: Woodfords Corner Yard Sale Trail


On May 18th, FWC is hosting a neighborhood Yard Sale Trail! What's a Yard Sale Trail? When you sign up, we'll add you to a digital map of yard sales happening the same day in Woodfords Corner. FWC will publicize the event tot get lots people to your yard. This is a great way to reduce the amount of things that would otherwise end up in landfills! Look out for a sign up in April.

Forest City Dance Party

Saturday, March 23rd, 8 - 11 pm

Dust off your costumes, warm up your grogger, and put on your dancing shoes and join TBE for their annual Purim Party. There will be a full megillah reading, costume parade, music, drinks, food, and much more.

Labyrinth Walk

Trinity welcomes the community to come and find the quiet center as we walk the Labyrinth in Lincoln Hall. Take a break and seek silence and peace as this ancient practice of centering welcomes the community to be still in the midst of this rather hectic time of the year.

Forest Ave Redesign Project: Public Meeting in March

In 2023, the city kicked-off a project to redesign Forest Ave to make it safer and more accessible for all users. This project, slated to wrap up this spring, will culminate in an updated analysis and street design recommendations to modernize the stretch of Forest Ave from Woodfords Corner to USM/Exit 6. Stay tuned for details about the upcoming public meeting!

Massage by Moxcey Moves to Woodfords Corner

Massage by Moxcey recently moved in at 449 Forest Ave. Moxcey offers therapeutic bodywork that combines elements of Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, and polarity therapy, with a holistic and trauma-informed approach.

Building a Revitalization Roadmap

Friends of Woodfords Corner was recently selected by the Maine Downtown Center to receive a streamlined 7-10 week Revitalization Roadmap planning exercise. As a final product, Downtown Redevelopment Services will produce a report including specific recommendations that can be implemented over a 2 to 5 year period with available community resources

Paella is Back at a Bigger Location!

Welcome back to the neighborhood, Dahlia and Casey! Paella is dedicated to providing high-quality and authentic Mediterranean cuisine for their customers. Their menu includes a wide variety of dishes, from their signature paella to delicious salads.

VFW Hall Available for Rentals

The VFW function hall at 687 Forest Ave is now open to rent to the public for events including weddings, birthdays, graduations, retirement parties, holiday parties, etc. The function hall can accommodate over 100 people and includes the use of a separate full cash bar area.  For additional details, including the cost and availability please call the VFW at 207-773-8745, or access a contract directly at VFWPortland.org.
