Applications Open for 2024 Woodfords Corner Farmers Market!

We're excited to bring back the Woodfords Corner this summer for its second season! We are looking for a variety of vendors to bring our unique neighborhood market to life. Interested? Applications for vendors and food trucks are due by February 15th!

On February 17th from 7 to 9 pm, come see a live performance from Kouchera! Featuring vocals from our very own board member Jennifer Ceide, this ensemble is high-energy and passionately delivers music with emotional depth and fun. Get tickets now or at the door! Gardeners: Get Ready for 2024 Garden Tour


It may be getting colder, but FWC has gardens on the mind! As we are starting to plan our 4th annual Garden Tour, we are looking for local gardeners interested in showing off their yards. For more information, check out the Garden Tour page.

FWC invites you to learn about zoning, housing in Portland and at the state level, and imagine how our neighborhood could accommodate more housing. This four-part workshop series kicks off on Tuesday, Feb. 27th, 6:30-8 pm with a talk on zoning from land use attorney and FWC board member Eric Larsson.

Malaga Island Talk with State Archivist

State Archivist Katherine McBrien will be giving a talk at WCC on the history of Malaga Island, where the State of Maine evicted a community of African American and white residents in 1912.

Congratulations to Katie on Her New Role at Maine's DoE!

Join us in congratulating our Muskie School Graduate Assistant Katie on her new role as the Farm and Sea to School Coordinator at Maine's Department of Education. We are grateful for Katie - she helped make the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market possible - and we are so excited to see what she does in this next chapter!

Fun in the Corner: Maine Downtown Center Affiliates Gathering

Last weekend, FWC hosted fellow Maine Downtown Center Affiliates from Lisbon, Bridgton, Old Town, and Ellsworth for a day of connection and fun! The day ended with a tour of 'the heart of the Corner,' where we got to share what makes our neighborhood so great.

Existing Conditions Phase Completed in Forest Ave Project

As of this January, the Existing Conditions phase was completed, with memos prepared by Toole Design Group. According to the data, vehicular traffic levels, which were recorded in October 2023, are 20% lower than they were pre-pandemic.

Woodford F&B Celebrates Eight Years

Towards the end of January, Woodford F&B celebrated it's eighth birthday. The neighborhood restaurant has been an anchor of the Woodfords Corner intersection since it’s opening, weathering many changes in the Corner including the 2018 DOT project on Forest Ave and the pandemic. Woodford F&B is also a long-time, outstanding partner of FWC - we are so grateful for their support!

Know Snow: Winter is Here!

Commercial property owners have 12 hours after snow stops falling to clear abutting sidewalks. The first offense is $250 fine. All residential property owners are required to remove snow from sidewalks abutting property within 18 hours after the city has finished clearing sidewalks. The first offense is a $75 fine.
